Cezanne and the Italian masters at the Marmottan-Monet museum

See some of Cezanne's paintings, but not only. This is what the Marmottan-Monet museum offers you with its exhibition "Cezanne and the Masters, Dreams of Italy". In addition to the paintings of the Aixois, a rare collection of works signed by prestigious names (Le Tintoretto, Le Greco...) awaits you there.

The Marmottan-Monet museum? This is a good objective for a walk from the Hotel Beaugency! In forty-five minutes, via the Champ-de-Mars, the Trocadéro gardens, the 16th arrondissement and finally the Ranelagh garden, you reach the beautiful mansion, former home of the collectors Jules and Paul Marmottan. It is also here that the world's largest collection of works by Claude Monet is assembled.

Since February 2020, Cezanne has been honoured there. And it is to meet him that we invite you to go. An encounter with an artist considered to be the precursor of another art form, but also with the greatest masters of Italian painting from the 16th to the 19th century. In all, you will be able to see about sixty works from the most important public and private collections from all over the world.

The comparison of all these creations reveals the influence that Latin culture had on Cezanne's work. It also shows how much the work of the Aixois nourished that of the painters of the Italian Novecento: Carrà, Sironi, Soffici, Pirandello, Boccioni and Morandi.

Take advantage of your outing to visit the permanent collections. Here are a few must-sees: Impression soleil levant et Nymphéas by Claude Monet, La Leçon de piano by Gustave Caillebotte, Fiancé au visage bleu by Marc Chagall...

As you will have understood, the museum is full of masterpieces that deserve to be taken time to stroll around.

In November, stay in Paris under the sign of art!
